Guidelines for a Fair and Inspiring Competition
To ensure a positive experience for all participants, teams must follow these rules throughout the competition:
Project Requirements
- Projects must address a real-world mobility challenge, such as transportation, accessibility, infrastructure, or sustainability.
- All solutions must be developed using the engineering design process, including problem identification, brainstorming, prototyping, testing, and iteration.
- Teams must submit:
- A physical or digital model of their solution
- A PowerPoint presentation outlining their design and process
- A 5-to-7 minute video explaining and demonstrating their project
Budget Limit
- Each team will receive $100 in funding to purchase materials.
- Teams must not exceed this $100 budget for their project.
- A spending log must be included with the final submission to verify compliance.
Team & Work Guidelines
- All work must be original and completed by students. Mentors may guide but not directly contribute to the design or build.
- Teams must consist of at least 3 students. There is no maximum team size.
- Each team must have one adult mentor to oversee safety and support.
Submission Deadline
All required materials (model, presentation, video, and budget log) must be submitted by February 13, 2025.
Judging Criteria
Projects will be reviewed by a panel of educators, transportation and STEM professionals using a comprehensive rubric.
- Judges’ decisions are final and based on the official rubric.
- Feedback may be provided to help teams grow and improve for future competitions.
