The Alabama Transportation Institute proudly hosted a successful Transportation Awareness Day at Greensboro Middle School, aiming to inspire the next generation of transportation professionals. The event, held on February 19, 2025, attracted 305 enthusiastic 6th to 9th grade students, eager to explore the exciting world of transportation and STEM education.
The purpose of the event was to raise awareness and foster interest in transportation-related careers, highlighting the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education. Students had the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge technology and learn about the future of transportation through interactive stations focused on automated, connected, electric, shared, and safe emerging transportation technology. These concepts were demonstrated through grade-appropriate educational activities.

Key partners included Kimley-Horn, UA Office of Interdisciplinary STEM Education Research, UA TRIP Lab, UA Eco-Car Team, AMP, and the UA Battery Workforce Challenge Team. They provided hands-on demonstrations and insightful presentations, showcasing the latest advancements in transportation technology and the potential career paths available in this dynamic field.
