The Alabama Transportation Institute is excited to announce the launch of its Transportation Innovation & STEM Academy, a weeklong immersive summer experience designed for rising 6th–8th grade students interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Scheduled for June 8–12, 2026, the academy offers hands-on, inquiry-based learning that introduces students to the rapidly evolving world of modern transportation. Throughout the week, participants will explore robotics, physics principles, engineering design and real-world problem-solving through engaging STEM activities. Students will also strengthen foundational math and reading skills through builtin intervention supports, ensuring a well-rounded and enriching academic experience.
A highlight of the academy includes a transportation-focused field trip, giving students a behind-the-scenes look at how transportation systems operate and how STEM disciplines drive innovation in mobility. In addition, participants will be introduced to a variety of career pathways in transportation and STEM, encouraging them to imagine future possibilities in high-demand fields.
ATI’s goal is to provide a supportive, exciting learning environment where students can create, explore, and grow as emerging STEM thinkers and problem solvers.
